When I was a little girl I hardly ate anything. My mom tried very hard to make healthy, delicious food, but she was defeated by what people considered healthy in those days, the late 1950's and early 1960's. Back then it was considered "scientific" to give babies baby formula instead of breast milk; modern to use canned foods instead of freshly cooked vegetables; and forward thinking and a sign of affluence to eat meat every day. Well I was just a stubborn little thing. Although I didn't have much choice about taking the formula as it was all that was offered me, I could never eat the canned veggies, especially peas and carrots which I thought were tasteless and had a bad texture. And the meat, well let me just say that we had a very well-fed dog. When I grew up all that changed.
